The Challenge: A key Department of Defense (DoD) component needed to deploy a mission-critical data analytics platform on a classified cloud network. The primary challenge was architecting a solution that was not only technologically robust and scalable but could also successfully navigate the rigorous and complex Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) authorization process.

Role & Actions of Our Expert: While serving as a Principal Solutions Architect Kaelen Visser was the technical authority for this high-stakes initiative. He was responsible for:

  • Translating the client’s complex mission requirements into a secure, compliant, and resilient technical architecture within AWS GovCloud.
  • Spearheading the integration of containerization and serverless computing, which significantly enhanced system resilience and reduced long-term operational costs for the government.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert on all technical controls, guiding the project through the entire FedRAMP documentation and assessment lifecycle to achieve a successful Authorization to Operate (ATO).

The Outcome: The direct result of this leadership was the successful deployment and authorization of a secure data platform, enabling the DoD client to leverage advanced analytics for their mission. The architectural decisions made during this process ensured the system met the highest standards of federal security and compliance.

The Challenge: The Department of Defense (DoD) needed to accelerate the fielding of a next-generation AI-driven ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) platform. Traditional acquisition pathways were too slow to counter emerging threats, requiring an innovative approach to bridge the gap between commercial technology and military end-users.

Role & Actions of Our Expert: Aegis’s Program Manager, Cassian Lee, led this high-profile rapid prototyping initiative. He was responsible for:

  • Identifying and vetting non-traditional technology companies with promising AI solutions suitable for defense applications.
  • Managing the entire program lifecycle under an agile Other Transaction Authority (OTA) contract vehicle, a faster alternative to the standard FAR-based process.
  • Overseeing the complex technical integration, testing, and evaluation of the platform in collaboration with operational military units to ensure it met true warfighter needs.

The Outcome: Under his leadership, the program successfully delivered a cutting-edge ISR analytics capability to the warfighter in under 18 months, a fraction of the time required by traditional acquisition. The project not only provided a critical intelligence advantage but also validated a new model for rapid technology adoption within the DoD.

The Challenge: A multi-billion-dollar business unit within a top-tier defense contractor faced a critical Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) audit. The audit revealed significant deficiencies in the unit’s cost estimating system, placing its approved status and eligibility for future cost-reimbursable contracts at immediate risk.

Role & Actions of Our Expert: In her role as Senior Manager for Government Contract Compliance Elena Petrova, was tasked to lead the internal response. Her actions included:

  • Serving as the primary point of contact and negotiator with the DCAA auditors, managing the flow of information, and building a cooperative relationship.
  • Directing a cross-functional task force to develop and implement a comprehensive Corrective Action Plan (CAP) that addressed the root cause of every finding.
  • Leading the complete overhaul of internal estimating system policies, procedures, and employee training programs to ensure sustained compliance.

The Outcome: As a direct result of Elena’s leadership, the business unit successfully passed its follow-up DCAA audit. The estimating system was formally recertified as “approved,” safeguarding billions of dollars in existing and future government revenue and restoring the government’s confidence in the contractor’s financial controls.

The Challenge: A leading technology firm needed to launch its new, highly complex AI Platform (AIP) into the competitive federal market. The launch required a sophisticated communications strategy to clearly articulate the platform’s value and differentiate it from incumbent systems in the minds of government executives, program managers, and technical evaluators.

Role & Actions of Our Expert: As the Director of Strategic Communications, Aegis’s CGO, Rhys Vance, architected and executed the comprehensive go-to-market narrative. He was responsible for:

  • Developing the core messaging framework that translated abstract engineering concepts into tangible benefits aligned with specific agency missions, such as enhancing supply chain resilience or accelerating intelligence analysis.
  • Driving the strategic media relations campaign, securing prominent and favorable coverage in top-tier outlets covering technology, defense, and government affairs.
  • Creating a full suite of launch materials—including white papers, mission-focused case studies, and executive briefing decks—that empowered the sales team to communicate a clear and compelling value proposition.

The Outcome: The strategic communications campaign resulted in a highly successful market launch. The platform was rapidly established as a thought leader in the federal AI space, generating significant inbound interest from target agencies and cementing the company’s position as a premier provider of advanced data analytics to the government.

The Challenge: During a major state-sponsored cyberattack targeting U.S. critical infrastructure, U.S. Cyber Command needed to manage public communications with extreme precision. The objective was to inform the American public and reassure international partners without revealing sensitive operational details or compromising intelligence-gathering methods.

Role & Actions of Our Expert: As a Public Affairs Officer Aegis’s CGO, Rhys Vance, was a key member of the incident response communications team. His role required him to:

  • Rapidly draft and coordinate the release of official DoD statements through complex interagency and senior leader approval chains.
  • Serve as an official spokesperson, providing clear, accurate, and non-classified information to national and international media outlets.
  • Brief senior military and civilian officials, providing them with the necessary information to communicate a unified and coherent government response.

The Outcome: Rhys’s role was instrumental in the successful management of public information during a national security crisis. The command’s effective communication strategy maintained public trust, prevented widespread misinformation, and protected the integrity of ongoing defensive cyber operations.
